Decent value with trial

I tried Bannerbear for the first time, using their free trial for the Automated Social Media Graphics. The credits provided were enough to test out the functionality thoroughly. I also saw the 10% off annual billing offer, which makes it more attractive. For what it does, it seems like a solid investment if you have a consistent need for automated visuals. It definitely felt worth exploring before committing.

Good for automated graphics

I set up the Image Generation API for automated social media graphics. The documentation was pretty clear, which made integration smoother than expected. Support responded within a day when I had a small question about custom fonts, which was helpful. The images generated were consistent with the templates I designed. It took about 3 days from starting the trial to having it integrated and live on our platform. The pricing model for credits feels reasonable for our volume.

Solid tool, minor hiccup

I've been using Bannerbear for a while now, mainly for automated E-commerce Product Image Automation. The overall experience was good; the images come out clean and consistent. My only small issue was with one specific template not rendering a particular font correctly initially, but I found a workaround. The Video Generation API also worked well for short clips. Customer service was responsive enough, though it took them a bit to understand my specific font issue. Value is there, especially for the time it saves.

Made some cool images

So I signed up for Bannerbear to make some personalized email images for a project. It was pretty straightforward to get started. I just followed the guides and made a few templates. The images came out looking pretty good, just like I wanted them to. Didn't have any problems, it just did what it said it would. Easy to use, which is nice.

Thinking of switching from Placid to Bannerbear. Has anyone done that? How do they compare, especially for video generation and overall template flexibility?

C Carly Reyes 1 month ago
I moved from Placid like 6 months ago. BB's video gen is pretty solid, and I find the template system more intuitive for complex stuff. Placid felt a bit clunkier sometimes.

Hmm, depends on what you need. Bannerbear's video API is good, but if you're doing super custom animations, you might want to test both. Template flexibility is good on both, but BB's dev experience felt smoother to me.

Anyone know if there's a specific place to put promo codes? Or do most discounts just apply automatically, like for annual plans?

I Ivy 1 month ago
Most annual stuff is auto, but if you have a specific code, you'd put it in during the checkout part, when you're actually paying. It's usually a small link on the payment page.

Yeah, during Stripe checkout. There's a little text box for 'promo code' or 'coupon code' there. Annual plans usually get their discount applied automatically, though.

Just curious, what happens if I accidentally go over my credit limit in a month? Does it just stop working or charge me extra?

B Beth 1 month ago
It usually just stops generating until your next billing cycle or until you upgrade. You won't get hit with surprise charges.

From my experience, it just pauses. You'll see a message that you're out of credits. You can upgrade or wait for the reset, but no extra billing without you doing something.

Hey, wondering if anyone's tried integrating Bannerbear with Zapier? Thinking about using it for automated social media posts. How's the setup and actual performance?

R Renee Ito 1 month ago
Yeah, I've got it hooked up. Super straightforward. Just connect your accounts, set up the template in BB, and Zapier pulls it right in. Runs pretty smooth for me.

It works really well! I use it for Open Graph images for blog posts. No issues at all, and it saves a ton of time. Just make sure your Zapier steps are ordered correctly.

Anyone know if Bannerbear does student discounts? Or maybe a non-profit one? Trying to keep costs down for a side project.

S Steve E. 1 month ago
I think they have a non-profit discount, yeah. Not sure about student specific though. You might wanna check their site or just ping their support.

They do offer a non-profit discount for sure, saw it mentioned somewhere. For students, I haven't seen anything advertised directly, but sometimes they have startup deals which might be applicable if your project fits.

Do they offer a free trial where you can actually test stuff out? Or is it just like, a demo video? Don't wanna commit without trying.

D Derek Kim 1 month ago
Yeah, they have a proper free trial. You get credits to play around with and generate actual images/videos.

It's not just a demo, you get real credits. Enough to build out a few templates and run some tests for sure. I found it pretty generous for a trial.
